New iPhone Duo
The budget app built for iPhone Duo.
Marnie is an expense tracker and budget app designed for the foldable iPhone. Closed, it's the phone you know. Open it, and your money spreads across two pages without losing your place.
Arrives with Marnie 1.0.6, the next app update.
What changes when you open it
iPhone Duo's cover screen sits over the right half of the big screen, so Marnie treats the fold like turning to a new page in a book, never like resizing an app.
Nothing jumps when you open it
The page you were reading on the closed phone stays on the right, exactly as it was. Only the new page on the left appears, resolving out of a soft blur.
Every tab becomes a two-page spread
Overview, History, Planning and Insights each open into two pages: the screen you know, and a page with the story behind it, like a calendar of your month or the payments behind an insight.
Tabs move to a rail by the camera
On iPhone Duo the tab bar becomes a slim rail on the camera edge, open or closed, so the pages get the full height of the screen.
Half open to review payments
Stand it half open and the spread turns into a quick review of captured payments, with large category tiles on one page.
Four tabs, four spreads
The right page is always the screen you had open. The left page adds what a phone screen has no room for, and the two pages answer each other: pick something on one and the other follows.
Overview
Left page: Breakdown: your categories and latest payments.
Right page: Safe to spend, payments that need you, and what came in and went out.
History
Left page: The month as a calendar, each day shaded by what you spent, with the weekday that costs you most. Tap a day and the list on the right shows just that day.
Right page: Your transaction history, as on the closed phone.
Planning
Left page: Looking ahead: your balance, bills and goals.
Right page: Your plan, budgets and Safe to Spend.
Insights
Left page: The story of what changed this month, category by category. Pick one to see six months of history and the payments behind it.
Right page: Your insight cards and spending pace.
Calm by design
Opening and closing follow the hinge. The new page fades up from a soft blur and darkness as the phone opens, exactly as iPhone Duo reveals the inner screen, with no stretching, flashing or content jumping. Motion plays once and settles, and Marnie respects Reduce Motion.
Everything else about Marnie is the same on iPhone Duo: Apple Pay capture through Shortcuts, receipt scanning, voice entry, budgets, bills and Safe to Spend. You can also ask Siri about your spending.
iPhone Duo questions
Does Marnie work on iPhone Duo?
Yes, from Marnie 1.0.6, the next app update. Marnie is designed for iPhone Duo. Closed, it is the same Marnie you use on any iPhone. Open, every tab becomes a two-page spread, the tabs sit in a rail on the camera edge, and the new page resolves from a soft blur as the phone unfolds.
What happens to my screen when I unfold iPhone Duo?
The cover screen sits over the right half of the big screen, so Marnie keeps exactly what you were looking at on the right page: same sections, same order, same scroll position. The left page is new and adds detail the closed screen has no room for, such as a calendar of your month on History.
Which Marnie screens open as spreads?
Overview, History, Planning and Insights all open as two-page spreads. Half open, Marnie turns the spread into a quick review of captured payments.
Is Marnie's iPhone Duo layout free?
Yes, from Marnie 1.0.6, the next app update. The iPhone Duo layout is part of the app on every plan, including Free. Pro extends AI, capture and scanning allowances; it does not unlock the foldable layout.
Does the iPhone Duo layout change Marnie on other iPhones or Android?
No. On other iPhones and on Android phones Marnie looks and behaves the same as before. The spreads, the side rail and the fold transitions only appear on iPhone Duo.
Unfold your money. Marnie is free to start.
