Pick your assistant

Claude and ChatGPT show answers as Marnie cards. The others answer in text, from the same numbers.

Before you start, in Marnie

Do this once. After that, each assistant takes three steps.

  1. Marnie Pro

Connecting an assistant is part of Marnie Pro. Siri, widgets and capture stay free.

  2. Turn on sharing

In Marnie, open Profile → AI agents and switch on Share with AI agents. Marnie then keeps a short summary for your assistants, refreshed when you use the app.

  3. Copy the link

It's the same link for everyone, shown on this page and in Profile → AI agents. Signing in is what ties it to your account.

What you can ask

Every answer is worked out by Marnie from your own records, so the totals match the app. Suggestions only land as drafts you approve.

See it answering in Claude and ChatGPT

  • “How much did I spend this month?”Your total and the top categories, with last month alongside. Also works for today, this week, last month and this year.
  • “What did I spend on coffee last month?”The matching payments from the last 90 days, filtered by category, merchant or type, with the total.
  • “Which bills are coming up?”The next bills and payday Marnie knows about, with dates and amounts.
  • “Am I safe to spend this weekend?”What's left in your budget for the period and how much that is per day.
  • “How close am I to my savings goals?”Each goal's progress, saved amount and target.
  • “Add a $12 lunch at Subway”A draft in Capture Review, if you allowed suggestions when you connected. It's saved once you approve it.

Questions about AI agents and Marnie

What is a finance MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other apps. Marnie's MCP server lets an assistant read the summary Marnie shares, so it can answer from your real spending, bills and goals instead of guessing.

Which AI assistants can connect to Marnie?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini (web app, limited), Grok, Perplexity, and the self-hosted Hermes and OpenClaw agents. Claude and ChatGPT show answers as Marnie cards. Meta's Muse can't connect yet.

Does the assistant see my bank account?

No. Marnie doesn't link to your bank, and your records stay on your phone. The assistant sees only the summary you switch on: spending totals, upcoming bills, safe to spend, goals and the last 90 days of transactions. Never balances, card or account numbers, notes or receipts.

Can an assistant change anything in Marnie?

Only if you allow it, and only as drafts. Anything it adds waits in Capture Review until you approve it. It can't edit or delete your records, and Marnie never moves money.

Do I need a paid plan?

Connecting an assistant needs Marnie Pro. Some assistants also need one of their own paid plans; each guide says which.

How do I turn it off?

Remove one assistant in Profile → AI agents, or switch off Share with AI agents to disconnect them all. Switching it off deletes the shared summary and any drafts from Marnie's servers.

Ask your assistant how your money's doing.
